CITB Health & Safety Awareness Course (HSA)
Our Bricklaying Apprenticeship at Greenlight gives you practical, hands-on experience working on real construction sites, developing the skills needed to build and maintain brick and block structures to a professional standard.
You’ll learn key techniques in bricklaying, including setting out, mixing mortar, interpreting drawings, and working safely and efficiently on site. Alongside technical skills, you’ll build confidence in teamwork, problem-solving, and attention to detail - essential for working in the construction industry.
Course Overview
The CITB Health & Safety Awareness (HSA) course is the ideal starting point for anyone looking to begin a career in construction or gain a better understanding of health and safety on site. This one-day course provides a practical introduction to the hazards commonly found in the construction industry, helping delegates recognise risks, understand their legal responsibilities, and work safely alongside others. It is suitable for new entrants to the industry as well as those needing to refresh their knowledge.
Throughout the course, delegates will learn about accident prevention, risk assessments, manual handling, working at height, fire safety, occupational health, and the importance of reporting unsafe conditions. On successful completion, learners receive a CITB Health & Safety Awareness certificate, valid for five years, which can support applications for a CSCS Labourer Card when combined with the relevant CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test.
Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken.
