IOSH Working Safely

Overview

IOSH Working Safely is a one-day, high-impact programme designed to be fun and engaging. It provides basic training in health and safety for workers at all levels and industries. It also meets the UK government’s guidelines for introductory health and safety training. This is a broad entry-level course and is suitable for employees across the organisation. The jargon-free content is designed around what people need in practice, in everyday scenarios.

Candidates completing this course will gain the required awareness of workplace health and safety, in line with UK legislation. IOSH is recognised as one of the leading health and safety membership organisations.

There are four main modules:

  • Introducing working safely

  • Defining hazard and risk

  • Identifying common hazards

  • Improving safety performance

Upon completion of the course, candidates should be able to:

  • Appreciate the importance of risk management in a workplace

  • Be aware of workplace health and safety in line with UK legislation

  • Identify common hazards and risks

  • Know how to make a difference to the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others

IOSH Working Safely is assessed in 2 parts – a multiple-choice examination, and a hazard spotting exercise. An IOSH Working Safely certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of both parts of the assessment. Although the certificates do not expire, it is recommended by IOSH that candidates refresh their training every 3 years.
