UKATA Asbestos Awareness

Overview

Asbestos awareness is essential for those workers who could potentially come into contact with asbestos during their employment, no matter the sector or the specific job role.

This half day course covers what asbestos is, the main kinds of asbestos encountered in the UK, how asbestos can cause harm, factors that affect the chances of harm being caused, examples of where asbestos is found in the UK, how to reduce exposure risks, and what to do in an emergency.

  • Health & Safety legislation

  • The Control of Asbestos Regs. 2012

  • Uses of Asbestos

  • Where Asbestos is likely to be found

  • Emergency procedures

  • How the adverse effects are increased for smokers Importance of Risk Assessments

  • Who is at risk and avoiding risk?

  • Latency Period (Hidden Killer)

  • PPE and RPE

Upon completion, candidates will receive a UKATA certificate, with a one year accreditation. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date.

  • To attend this course you are required to have completed a short pre-requisite quiz, this will be distributed to you prior to the course start date.
