Property Maintenance
Level 2 Apprenticeship

Our Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship at Greenlight gives you the practical, multi-skilled experience needed to maintain and repair buildings safely and effectively. You’ll develop skills across a range of trades, helping to keep properties in a good state of repair and suitable for the people who use them.

You’ll learn how to carry out planned maintenance and responsive repairs, working with materials, tools and equipment across areas such as carpentry, plumbing, plastering, brickwork, tiling, painting & decorating and external works. Alongside your practical training, you’ll develop the knowledge needed to work safely, communicate with customers and identify when a job needs to be passed to a specialist.

Apprenticeship Overview

Property Maintenance Operatives play an important role in keeping buildings safe, functional and well maintained. They work across a wide range of settings including housing, healthcare, education, hospitality, commercial properties, leisure and retail.

During your apprenticeship, you’ll develop a broad range of practical maintenance skills. This includes carrying out minor repairs to areas such as carpentry & joinery, plumbing, plastering, brick & blockwork, tiling, painting & decorating, flooring, roofing, fencing, drainage and external areas.

You’ll also learn how to plan and organise maintenance tasks, interpret job sheets and drawings, select appropriate materials, use tools and equipment safely and record & report your work. An important part of the role is understanding your own level of competence and knowing when a repair needs to be escalated to a supervisor or specialist trade.
