Level 2 Apprenticeship

Our Dry Lining Apprenticeship at Greenlight gives you the practical skills and experience needed to build the internal structure of modern buildings. You’ll learn how to install drylining systems, partitions and wall linings while working safely and accurately to drawings, specifications and manufacturer instructions.

As part of the apprenticeship, you’ll develop your skills in measuring, setting out, cutting and fixing materials, as well as using the tools and equipment required for interior systems work. You’ll gain practical experience both at Greenlight and in the workplace, building the skills needed for a career in the construction industry.

Apprenticeship Overview

The Level 2 Interior Systems Installer Apprenticeship is designed for people working in the specialist interior systems sector, with the Drylining Systems option focusing on the installation, repair and maintenance of internal walls and structures.

You’ll learn how different drylining systems are used to create walls and rooms within a building, including systems designed to improve fire protection, acoustics and insulation. Your training will cover materials such as plasterboard, wallboards, thermal boards, metal sections, timber battens, fixings and fittings.

You’ll also develop the ability to interpret drawings, measure & set out work, select appropriate materials and equipment, form openings and junctions, install insulation and carry out repairs. Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll learn the importance of quality, attention to detail, safe working practices and working effectively alongside other trades.

    Level 2 Dry Lining (Interior Systems) Apprenticeship Standard. If required, you will also complete Functional Skills qualifications in English & Maths.

  • Suitable For

    Anyone 16+ who is not in full-time education. School leavers, career changers, or anyone looking to begin a career in the construction industry. No experience needed.

  • Start Dates

    We offer monthly starts throughout the year, subject to availability and completion of the enrolment process. We don’t operate on term time dates.

  • Locations

    This apprenticeship is delivered through our Bristol & Plymouth training centres, alongside workplace learning with your employer.

  • Delivery Method

    Training combines practical learning at Greenlight with on-the-job experience provided by your employer.

  • Apprenticeship Duration

    The Level 2 Interior Systems Installer Apprenticeship has a typical duration of 24 months, not including the end-point assessment period (typically 3 months).

  • Progression Opportunities

    Completing the apprenticeship can lead to skilled employment as a Drylining Fixer or Interior Systems Operative, with opportunities to develop further experience across the interior systems sector.

  • Entry Requirements

    You’ll need to be employed, or have secured employment, in a relevant interior systems or drylining role before starting the apprenticeship. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, good attention to detail and commitment to safe working are important.
