Level 2 Apprenticeship

Our Carpentry Apprenticeship at Greenlight gives you practical, hands-on experience developing the skills needed to work confidently and professionally in the construction industry.

You’ll learn key carpentry techniques including measuring, setting out, cutting and fixing timber, interpreting drawings and using hand & power tools safely. Alongside practical skills, you’ll develop your ability to work as part of a team, solve problems and maintain high standards of quality on site.

Our Carpentry Apprenticeship at Greenlight is a great starting point for anyone looking to build a career in the construction industry. You’ll gain practical experience while developing the knowledge and skills needed to carry out carpentry work safely and to a professional standard.

You’ll develop skills across a range of carpentry tasks, including first & second fix work, installing building components, working with timber and interpreting drawings and specifications. You’ll also learn how to select and use the right tools, materials and equipment for different jobs, while working in line with current building regulations and industry standards.

As you progress, you’ll build confidence working alongside other trades, communicating effectively and taking responsibility for your own work. The apprenticeship provides a solid foundation for progressing into skilled employment as a Site Carpenter or continuing your development through further training.

Modules & Skills Overview

  • Qualifications Gained

    Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship Standard. If required, you will also work towards the relevant English & Maths qualifications.

  • Suitable For

    Anyone 16+ who is not in full-time education. School leavers, career changers, or anyone looking to begin a career in the construction industry. No experience needed.

  • Start Dates

    We offer multiple start dates throughout the year, with immediate starts available for applicants who have secured employment and completed the enrolment process.

  • Locations

    This apprenticeship is delivered from our training centres in Plymouth and Bristol, alongside practical learning in the workplace.

  • Delivery Method

    Training is delivered through a combination of centre-based workshops, workplace learning, and regular reviews with your tutor and assessor.

  • Apprenticeship Duration

    The apprenticeship typically takes 24 months to complete, followed by a typical 3-month end-point assessment period.

  • Progression Opportunities

    After completing the apprenticeship, learners can progress into employment as a qualified Site Carpenter, continue their development through higher-level construction training, or explore further specialisms within the industry.

  • Entry Requirements

    Applicants must be employed, or have secured employment, in a relevant carpentry role before starting the apprenticeship. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to working safely are essential.
