Our Plastering Apprenticeship at Greenlight gives you the practical skills and experience needed to build a career as a professional plasterer. You’ll learn how to prepare, plaster and finish walls and ceilings to a high standard, working across new build, refurbishment and repair projects.

You’ll develop practical skills in preparing surfaces, mixing and applying plaster, creating smooth finishes and working with different materials and tools. Alongside your practical training, you’ll learn how to interpret drawings and specifications, work safely and communicate effectively with other trades on site.

Apprenticeship Overview

The Level 2 Plasterer Apprenticeship is designed for people looking to develop a career in the construction and refurbishment industry. Plasterers play an important role in preparing and finishing walls and ceilings, creating surfaces that are ready for decoration while also contributing to the durability, fire performance and finish of a building.

During your apprenticeship, you’ll develop the practical skills needed to prepare different surfaces, select appropriate materials, mix plaster and apply a range of plastering systems. You’ll learn how to achieve quality finishes while working accurately to drawings, specifications and manufacturer instructions.

The standard also recognises the importance of working safely, reducing waste and considering environmental impacts throughout the job.

    Level 2 Plastere Apprenticeship Standard. If required, you will also complete Functional Skills qualifications in English & Maths.

    Anyone aged 16+ who is looking to start a career in construction and enjoys practical, hands-on work. This apprenticeship is ideal for people who enjoy working with their hands, have good attention to detail and take pride in producing a quality finish.

  • Start Dates

    We offer monthly starts throughout the year, subject to availability and completion of the enrolment process. We don’t operate on school term time.

  • Locations

    This apprenticeship is delivered through our Bristol & Plymouth training centres, alongside workplace learning with your employer.

  • Delivery Method

    Training combines practical learning at Greenlight with on-the-job experience provided by your employer. You’ll develop your plastering skills in a structured training environment, before applying what you’ve learned to real construction projects in the workplace.

  • Apprenticeship Duration

    The Level 2 Plasterer Apprenticeship typically takes 24 months to complete, followed by a typical 3-month end-point assessment period.

  • Progression Opportunities

    With further experience and training, you could progress into specialist plastering, external rendering, decorative plasterwork or supervisory roles within the construction industry.

  • Entry Requirements

    You’ll need to be employed, or have secured employment, in a relevant plastering role before starting the apprenticeship. There are no specific formal qualifications listed as an entry requirement for the standard.
