An exciting new way to gain an Apprenticeship in Construction

We have a new exciting opportunity starting in September 2025 to assist young people with ALN (Additional Learning Needs) into a Construction Apprenticeship. We achieve this with supported internships.

A smaller logo in the top right corner says 'greenlight' with a yellow light bulb icon and the words 'safety & training'.

So, what is an internship?

A supported internship is a structured, work-based study program designed to help young people with ALN gain the skills and experience needed for employment. It will combine work experience at an employer's site with personalised support from job coaches within Greenlight Training, and will include classroom theory learning. The goal is to improve employability and transition the intern into paid work with an apprenticeship at Greenlight Training.

How long is an internship?

An internship will last a maximum of 12 months, but can be reduced if you are ready for employment sooner.

How many days am I with the employer, and how many days am I in Greenlight?

For the first 3 months, you will spend 2 days a week with Greenlight Training, after the first 3 months, you will then be placed with one of our employers 2-3 days a week. So your week after 3 months will consist of 2 days in Greenlight and 2-3 days with an employer.

Do I get paid when I'm with my employer?

You are not usually paid for a Supported Internship, as it is work experience and education.
