Results Season: What Comes Next After GCSEs & A Levels?

Results season is here, and for thousands of young people across the country, it’s a time of excitement, relief, celebration — and often a big question: what comes next?

For some, the next step will be university. For others, it could be further education, employment or an apprenticeship. There’s no single route to a successful career, and results day is just the beginning of that journey.

Hear it from the people who’ve done it

When you’re considering an apprenticeship, there’s only so much you can learn from a course description or careers website. Sometimes, the best people to hear from are those who are already doing it.

As part of our recent celebrations of success, we handed the microphone over to some of our apprentices and asked them to share their experiences of life at Greenlight.

From what they’ve enjoyed and learned, to what they’re planning to do next, their stories offer a real insight into what an apprenticeship can look like.

Is an apprenticeship right for you?

If you’ve just received your GCSE or A Level results and you’re still deciding what to do next, an apprenticeship could be worth considering.

For those interested in construction, an apprenticeship offers the chance to develop practical skills while gaining industry experience and working towards a recognised qualification.

At Greenlight, our apprentices train in a range of construction trades, including Bricklaying, Carpentry, Dry Lining, Groundworks, Plastering, Roofing & Property Maintenance.

It’s a route that combines time in training with hands-on experience - giving apprentices the opportunity to learn their trade in a practical environment.

Results day isn't the end of the road

It’s easy to put a lot of pressure on results day. But whatever results you receive, they don’t define what you can go on to achieve.

If you’ve got the grades you were hoping for, congratulations. If things didn’t quite go to plan, there are still plenty of options available.

And if you’re not sure what you want to do yet, that’s okay too.

The most important thing is taking the time to explore your options and find a route that works for you.

Thinking about an apprenticeship?

Our apprentices are already building their skills, gaining experience & working towards careers in the construction industry.

If you’ve recently received your GCSE or A Level results and want to find out whether an apprenticeship could be the right next step, we’re here to help.

You can also come along to our Construction Open Day on 28 August to meet the team, find out more about our apprenticeships & see what training at Greenlight is all about.
