How to become a Greenlight Apprentice

Step 1

  • Greenlight has a dedicated page to help you apply for Apprenticeships here.

Additionally, we hold regular Apprenticeship Open Days throughout the year at both of our centres. The idea is that you can come along and take part in a practical demonstration of the Apprenticeship you’re interested in, as well as ask questions. It’s a fantastic way to see which trade may be best for you. Plus, you can sign up for an Apprenticeship right there at the event, and one of our team will be in touch soon afterwards to follow up. You can see when our next Open Days are by going here.

Step 2

  • Our Pre-Apprenticeship sessions are a vital part of our recruitment process, and essential for creating sustainable employment and education. Typically these sessions can vary in length from one day to one week, depending on the trade and the circumstances, and they are all about us getting to know you.

You will be asked to perform simple some tasks during these sessions and our friendly team will take note of your particular skills and strengths, plus any other areas where we think you could improve. Then we will talk with you to discover how best we can help, with the intention of progressing you into an Apprenticeship.

Step 3

  • As an essential part of the recruitment process, a work trial with a prospective employer can range from one week to one month, and depending on the duration and individual circumstances can be paid or unpaid.

A work trial helps you determine if the employer is right for you and a good fit for them, and allows everyone involved to get a feel for what your work as an Apprentice will entail.

Greenlight will monitor your work trial closely - this is a chance for you to prove yourself, and show the employer exactly what you can bring to the table - be it enthusiasm, existing skills, a willingness to learn and take direction, or all of these combined.

Step 4

  • Once you have completed a successful work trial, and all sides are happy, your Apprenticeship can begin!

Your Apprenticeship will last between 15 and 27 months, depending on the trade and the level.

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will attend one of our training centres for 3 consecutive days each month. The rest of the time you will be learning on the job with your employer!
