Level 3 First Aid at Work

This qualification covers the key knowledge and skills to support learners in becoming workplace first aiders.  This course is valid for three years although all learners are recommended to refresh their skills at least annually.

You will cover the following topics;

  • roles and responsibilities of the first aider
  • how to assess an incident
  • recognising and dealing with anaphylaxis
  • recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness
  • providing first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • assisting a casualty who may have chest / spinal injuries
  • dealing with external bleeding and hypovolemic shock.
  • CPR
  • using an AED

This course is normally completed within three days (minimum 18 hours) and is valid for three years.  

You will be assessed through;

  • the completion of a test paper
  • demonstration of practical first aid skills throughout the course 

You can progress onto additional courses within this area including Mental Health First Aid as well as more specific First Aid programmes.

Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work

This qualification covers the key knowledge and skills to support learners in becoming emergency first aiders in the workplace.  You will cover the following topics;

  • roles and responsibilities of the first aider
  • how to assess an incident
  • recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness
  • providing first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • dealing with external bleeding and hypovolemic shock.
  • CPR
  • using an AED

This course is normally completed within one day (minimum 6 hours) and is valid for three years.  It is recommended that all learners refresh their skills annually.

You will be assessed through;

  • the completion of a multiple-choice test paper
  • demonstration of practical first aid skills throughout the course 

You can progress onto the Level 3 First Aid at Work.  If you choose to do this within a set timeframe, then you will be exempt from the first day.

Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety 

This qualification is for all learners who work either as a health and safety practitioner or hold a position of responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of others within an organisation.  

You will cover the following mandatory topics;

  • ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
  • develop procedures to safely control work operations
  • monitor procedures to safely control work operations
  • promote a culture of health and safety in the workplace
  • conduct a health and safety risk assessment of the workplace

Plus, you will need to choose two of the following;

  • investigate and evaluate health and safety incidents and complaints in the workplace
  • make sure actions in the workplace aim to protect the environment
  • review health and safety procedures in the workplace
  • supervise the health, safety and welfare of a learner in the workplace

You will be assessed through the completion of tasks and activities set for you using our e-learning system.  The types of assessment methods may include; 

  • questioning
  • professional discussion
  • demonstration of workplace competence (evidence through either direct observation and / or use of witness testimony)
  • production of relevant workplace ‘product’ evidence

 This course is normally completed within 12-18 months.

Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice

This qualification is aimed at learners who are responsible for developing and applying health and safety procedures within their workplace.  

You will cover the following topics;

  1. Promoting a positive health and safety culture
  2. Developing and implementing the health and safety policy
  3. Developing and implementing effective communication systems for health and safety information
  4. Developing and maintaining both individual, and organisational, competence in health and safety matters
  5. Identifying, assessing and controlling health and safety risks
  6. Developing and implementing proactive monitoring systems for health and safety
  7. Developing and implementing reactive monitoring systems for health and safety
  8. Developing and implementing health and safety emergency response systems and procedures
  9. Developing and implementing health and safety review systems
  10. Maintaining knowledge of improvements to influence health and safety practice

You will be assessed through the completion of tasks and activities set for you using our e-learning system.  The types of assessment methods may include; 

  • questioning
  • professional discussion
  • demonstration of workplace competence (evidence through either direct observation and / or use of witness testimony)
  • production of relevant workplace ‘product’ evidence

This course is normally completed within 12-18 months.

Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision

This qualification is ideally suited for anyone who is working within a Site Supervisory or Assistant / Trainee Site Manager role and on completion will ensure a solid grounding in key areas including;

  • Health and Safety
  • Planning Activities and Resources
  • Assessing and Recommending Work Methods
  • Co-ordinating and Organising Works
  • Allocating and Monitoring the use of Plant, Equipment or Machinery

 In addition, you will also need to choose one of the following pathways relevant to your work area;

  • Building and Civil Engineering
  • Highways and Maintenance Repair
  • Residential Development
  • Conservation
  • Demolition
  • Tunnelling

The total number of units to be completed will be around 14 … depending on the pathway chosen.

You will be assessed through the completion of tasks and activities set for you using our e-learning system.  The types of assessment methods may include; 

  • questioning
  • professional discussion
  • demonstration of workplace competence (evidence through either direct observation and / or use of witness testimony)
  • production of relevant workplace ‘product’ evidence

This course is normally completed within 12-18 months and on achievement you will be able to obtain your ‘gold’ Supervisory CSCS Card.  

You can progress onto further learning and we will be happy to discuss this with you as you progress through your learning programme.

Cost – £1920.00

Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management

This qualification is ideally suited for anyone who is working within a Site Management / Trainee Site Manager role and on completion will ensure a solid grounding in the key work areas to manage a site and associated projects.

Prior to enrolling onto this learning programme, we will work with you to identify the most appropriate pathway relevant to your area of work.  You will be able to choose from one of the following pathways:

  • Building and Civil Engineering
  • Highways and Maintenance Repair
  • Residential Development
  • Conservation
  • Demolition

You will be assessed through the completion of tasks and activities set for you using our e-learning system.  The types of assessment methods may include; 

  • questioning
  • professional discussion
  • demonstration of workplace competence (evidence through either direct observation and / or use of witness testimony)
  • production of relevant workplace ‘product’ evidence

This course is normally completed within 18 months and on achievement you will be able to obtain your ‘black’ Site Manager’s CSCS Card.  Throughout the learning programme, you will have access to a named assessor as well as an allocated mentor.

You can progress onto further learning and we will be happy to discuss this with you as you progress through your learning programme.
